Is our health really that important?
Hey I’m Dan, Adelaide’s newest CrossFit Affiliate owner. I also teach the next wave of up and coming PTs in Adelaide and have had many conversations with people about the true definition of fitness, and how it can be applied to the gym and in life.
I love CrossFit because of the life changing impacts it has on our physical health. I’m also passionate about improving our Mental Health and preaching about the benefits of how CrossFit can improve our body and mind.
We are constantly faced with competing demands that life throws at us, one thing should always remain as a priority, is our physical fitness.
Life is busy and for many people, our cups are oftentimes running on empty as we’re constantly filling our time with work, kids, cooking, cleaning, social media, TV and other STUFF. For a large proportion of the community, our health is one of the last things on our list of “to-do’s”, which is quite simply, upside down.
Putting our health first is the most important thing we can do for ourselves. When we prioritize our health, we’re investing in our present and future well-being. This means making good choices that helps us physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Making healthy choices such as eating a balanced diet, reducing processed foods, getting enough sleep, exercising regularly, and reducing stress will help prevent chronic illnesses and improve our quality of life. Remember that prioritizing our health doesn’t mean neglecting other important areas of our life, such as work or family. Rather, it means putting our health first so we can be a better person for those around us so we can go about each day giving more and getting more out of life.
When we take some time to assess our current habits and make changes where necessary, our body will thank us for it, and we’ll be able to enjoy all the benefits that come with a fit and healthy body.
Summary
Regardless of our age, current fitness and health levels or background, we all can set aside regular time each week to exercise – it really comes down to choices. Depending on our commitments and interests, this will look different for everyone, but we just need to commit to the process and find something that we can enjoy and do regularly.
Just remember, by putting yourself first and building your fitness, you are being a better person for you and for everyone else. This will eventually help you to give more and get more out of life.
