As children, we learn the habits that shape our character and determine our future when we grow-up
What is CrossFit Kids?
CrossFit Kids is our specialised kids-focussed, group-based health and fitness program that is delivered to children from pre-school to year 8.
The primary aim of the program is to provide school aged children with an opportunity to experience a fun association with exercise and learn about the importance of human movement, teamwork and nutrition in a safe and enjoyable environment.
Five Key Objectives
At each CrossFit Kids session we aim to achieve the following five outcomes with your children:
- Provide a portion of the children’s weekly exercise
- Teach foundational movements that are essential for everyday life
- Participate in strength, stamina and cardio fitness
- Educate children about nutrition
- Provide opportunities for children to experience success in their health and fitness.
Session Structure
Each session runs for 40 minutes and involves a fun warm-up, individual, partner and group exercises as well as technical skills training in key functional movements.
Workouts are short in duration (6-10 minutes) and range from low, medium to high intensity depending on the ages of the kids we are working with.
Each program aims to develop General Physical Preparedness (GPP), including the 10 general physical skills:
- Strength
- Stamina
- Cardio fitness
- Flexibility
- Agility
- Coordination
- Speed
- Power
- Accuracy
- Balance.
Basic equipment such as battle ropes, light kettlebells, medicine balls and agility ladders are used in a standard program.
All of our Coaches at CrossFit Revelation carry a current Working With Children Check and Police Clearance.
